MINDING EACH MOMENT
MINDFULNESS COURSES & PRACTICES
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a way of bringing more awareness to our lives. It offers another way to manage the daily stressors of life, as well as maintaining balanced wellbeing that we my already have in our lives. Mindfulness can help bring a renewed outlook, and ability to see things differently. It can help us to learn new ways of managing physicl or emotional discomfort and negative mind sets. It can have a positive impact on self-confidence, self-care and support us in learning to respond - rather than react - to external and internal events and strsesses.
Mindflness is a skill building practice; it supports learning to be open, so that we might see ourselves and the world around us more objectively - to learn what is going on for us both inside and out. Bringing awareness to our usual thought patterns and behaviuors, allowing us to to then reflect on them, and work towards changing them if we choose to.

What Does It Do?
When we practice Mindfulness we are essentially are practicing becoming aware - aware of our thoughts, emotions, and how our body's are feeling. It's only when we become aware of something that can we then explore it and choose if we want to to change it in any way. Awareness opens the door to self-care and and kindness which comforts the mind and body.
Stressful events, fears, anxieties, as well as our increasing hectic lives, often leave our bodies and brains feeling overwhlemed by the 'business' of our minds - causing the stress response to run in overdrive. Mindfulness supports the brain and body to slow down, helping to soften the stress response so that we are better able to manage uncomfortable of difficult thought, emotions and situations.

Why Mindfulness?
I was introduced to meditation as a teenager 30 years ago by a school teacher. During that time I came to understand how my emotions manifested themselves in my body. I learned to look inward and to see my thoughts to hear my internal voice and its (not always helpful) messages. This was a revelation because once I could recognise my thoughts and feelings I was better able to put them into perspective and to reflect on what I was experiencing. I have been formally practicing Mindfulness since completing the MBSR course in 2014. Following the completion of Teaching Mindfulness and Compassion (level 4 foundation Degree) with Karen Atkinson of Mindfulness UK, I have become increasingly passionate about sharing how mindfulness can positively impact on one's personal internal life, and how it's ripple effect can also touch our relationships with others and the world around us.
